Raymond “Bobby” Banks  was born and died in Oxford, Maryland. He is buried in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, Maryland. Bobby was an Oxford  police officer from 1965 to 1978. He was on the John Wesley Church board and was active in the Walters Methodist Church in Oxford. Banks Street in Oxford is named after him.

  1. I lived in Oxford for the first eighteen years of my life and Bobby was a well known and uplifting person in the community. He lived right down the street (maybe that is now Bank Street), had way more energy than most folks and had a great sense of humor and a fine singing voice. Ancient Oxfordians will recall Bobby, Dick Bailey, and Raymond at Valliant’s Service Station right across the street form Oxford Elementary where you could find candy, soft drinks and joke with the guys. I miss Bobby and all those experiences.
